Preparing for your Advising Appointment
Advising assignments for the Summer 2024 and Fall 2024 semesters will be distributed by MARCH 11, 2024. Student Athletes must be clear by APRIL 4, 2024. All other students must be cleared by their advisor by APRIL 8, 2024.

Advising HOLDS will be placed on all undergraduate students, and also graduate students in Engineering, Architecture and Math & Computer Science. Please make sure your advisor removes your hold at the time of your advising appointment.
Each semester all undergraduate student are required to meet with their assigned academic advisor prior to registration. To help this process run smoothly, it is imperative for you to arrive prepared. The UAC has put together a checklist to assist you through this process. Please make sure to always print and bring a copy of your DegreeWorks audit to your meetings. Information on how to access this can be found under the DegreeWorks tab. Goals of the University Advising Center
GOAL I – To help students better understand themselves
Academic advising should help students both understand and accept themselves. With the help of an academic advisor, students should come to a better understanding of their values, goals, abilities, interests and limitations.
GOAL 2 – To help students clarify life, educational, courses, and career goals
Academic advising should help students define and develop realistic goals, while developing individual plans to meet those goals. Advisors should assist students in choosing courses appropriate to the students' program requirements, ability level, and individual needs.
GOAL 3 – To help interpret institutional requirements
Academic advising should not only provide students with accurate information about the university's policies, procedures and requirements, but also make sure that students understand the academic regulations that apply to them.
GOAL 4 – To help students be aware of available educational resources
Academic advising should assist students in becoming aware of and learning to utilize the academic resources on campus which can help them achieve their goals. To make sure that students are familiar with and make effective use of campus resources, academic advisors should identify special needs and match students to available resources. Academic advisors should provide information, when requested, about their advisees to assist in campus decision-making and continuous improvement of its academic programs and services.
GOAL 5 – To help students evaluate their progress toward established goals
Academic advising should encourage and facilitate student decision making skills, while assisting students in constant evaluation and reevaluation of progress towards goals and educational plans.
